Transforming Futures: SeedDev and Dzeuls Foundation Graduate 22 Kids in Ijero-Ekiti After 9 Months Fellowship Program

Ijero-Ekiti, Nigeria, April 6, 2024SeedDev, in partnership with Dzeuls Foundation, celebrates the remarkable graduation of 22 young learners from its immersive 9-month fellowship program in Ijero-Ekiti. The initiative, aimed at introducing kids and women in rural and emerging communities to STEM and Coding, has ignited a spark of innovation and empowerment in the hearts of these young minds.

SeedDev, known for its commitment to fostering technological literacy, collaborated with Dzeuls Foundation to establish the SeedBox program—an eco-friendly, solar-powered hub equipped with internet connectivity and 30 computers. This initiative provided a conducive environment for children from low-income families, who had never interacted with a computer before, to embark on a transformative journey of learning and discovery.

The graduation ceremony, held on April 6, 2024, marked a historic moment for Ijero-Ekiti as it hosted its first-ever Ijero Tech Day under the theme ‘Empowerment for the 4th Industrial Revolution.’ The event showcased the potential of the community to embrace STEM careers and shape a brighter future.

Eager parents and esteemed guests, including the Olori Adewole Abike, wife of The Owa Ajero Of Ijero Ekiti, and Dr. Olabisi Afolabi-Awosanya, graced the occasion, offering their support and encouragement to the budding talents of Ijero-Ekiti.

The ceremony featured insightful panel discussions led by industry experts, including Aboluwarin Olaoluwa David, founder of SeedDev, and Dr. (Mrs.) Olabisi Awosanya, delving into the challenges and opportunities of children’s engagement with technology. Olori Adewole Abike shared valuable insights on fostering digital well-being while encouraging exploration.

The highlight of the event was the captivating project demonstrations by the graduates, showcasing their creativity and ingenuity in developing websites, mobile apps, and animated short videos. Each graduate received a certificate of achievement, symbolizing their dedication to shaping a brighter tomorrow.

In recognition of their outstanding performance, three exceptional students were awarded laptops, igniting dreams of endless possibilities for their future endeavors.
