DropBuddies is an “On the way” delivery service that connects people who have items to send with independent couriers headed in that direction. The service utilizes an existing infrastructure of excess number of cars already on the road, made up of the places people go to and the patterns we drive every day.
This results in a faster, cheaper and more efficient shipping alternative for everything from cupcakes to gadgets, even couches.
Bonded by their common love for technology, Oluwatomi Solanke, Ayomide Fagbohungbe and Opeyemi Olanipekun started Dropbuddies in 2016; combining relevant technologies with Shipping to create a digital version of on-demand delivery.
It is a peer to peer package delivery service that uses GPS to alert couriers –Dropbuddies– closest to you, hereby cutting the average delivery time by solving the issue of the time-gap between pick ups and drop offs.
The Startup understands that some African cities are hard to navigate, issues of bad roads and good numbering of houses; so DropBuddies leverages the experience of people who already know the area and tools such as maps, artificial intelligence and algorithms to understand & manage the routes for the packages via push notifications on mobile devices.
DropBuddies deploy bike couriers, private & commercial drivers and on-foot personnel through the app to undertake the delivery of packages. Business owners can also get customers pretty much anything from flowers to bulky items such as furniture using the startup’s technology; as they have an API that integrates the product’s workflow directly into each merchant’s checkout process.
Our distinctive feature is that everybody can have a try at working as a courier. All you need to do is to apply and download the DropBuddies Partner app online – Oluwatomi Solanke(Co- founder, DropBuddies)
To signup with DropBuddies as a courier you need to be over the age of 18, have an existing Facebook profile, a bank account and a bank verification number and available to travel by bike, car and even on foot. Although submission of extra details such as a guarantor and a government-issued ID is not mandatory it can help boost profile ratings which affect the quality of deliveries that you can access.
The service allows you to track your request from start to finish in real time from your mobile device by checking the user app and demonstrates a commitment to safety and security by automatically including up to 5% insurance on each gig.
