We live in a digital world, where technology has become a necessity in every aspect of human life, hence the digital transformation has become essential in sustaining a competitive advantage in the business world.
As part of efforts to empower people in the area of digital entrepreneurship, Microsoft organized a South West Digital Entrepreneurship Fair in Akure, Ondo State where over 200 startup founders/career people were fully engaged on practical steps to revolutionize their businesses with the use of modern day technology and social media tools.
The two-day fair which held at the Advancement Hub was a full package of online marketing training, Data Science, interactive and mentorship sessions by major players in the Nigerian tech ecosystem.
Speaking at the Fair, a Microsoft Tech Evangelist, Kendra Nnachi explained that “Marketing has evolved from being restricted to a particular location, to a more advanced setup where mobile technology has increased the rate of market outreach.”
“Entrepreneurs should incorporate and engage necessary customer feedbacks, to prevent a total collapse of their business, likewise, utilize and participate in online training on Marketing to enhance their marketing knowledge.” – Kendra Nnachi
She also stressed that entrepreneurs must carry out a proper survey before they establish a business and follow the various trends of market evolution.
“Microsoft also supports the implementation of innovative start-ups through the Microsoft Bizspark global program for people with amazing and creative ideas.”
Co-CEO of Practivate, Toni Olumide added that” Digitalization is a catalyst for new business models, it optimizes processes and drives significant changes in a market.”

“Creativity plus action brings about innovation, and innovation leads to development. Likewise, great things don’t just happen, great thinkers act on great thoughts”, Olumide added.
Participants were divided into various labs (Sessions) where various entrepreneurship problems were analysed and solved. Some of the mentors included: Brand strategist – Dayo Ayeni, Kitan David( PlanetNEST), Toni and Olufemi Olumide (Practivate), Deji Adeogun (Printivo), Segun Omojola, Kendra Nnachi and Sola Amusan (Microsoft).
Philanthropy lead, Microsoft Nigeria, Sola Amusan, concluded the fair by pledging continuous support by Microsoft in enhancing digital entrepreneurship.
